Exam Week:

The Writing Center does not have regular hours during exam week.  If you would like to make an appointment with a tutor, please contact them directly by email to arrange a mutually convenient time to meet.  The following tutors are available:  Emily Tuttle (ELT7), Eli Garcia (EAG6), Emma Wilson (EW4), Abby Williams (AEW7), Greg Lastrapes (GDL1), Charlie Best (HMB10), Vicky Westacott (fcobb).

Welcome to WCONLINE 5! To get started, register for an account by clicking the link to the left.

Where is the Writing Center?

During weekday hours, you can find us in the Center for Academic Success on the second floor of Herrick Library in room 218. Our evening and weekend hours are on the first floor of Herrick (look for the sign or ask at the circulation desk).

Do I have to make an appointment?

Walk-ins are always welcome during our regularly scheduled hours, but priority will be given to scheduled appointments.

Can I work with a tutor online?

If you are a student in New York City or in Corning, you can sign up for an online appointment.  If you are on campus in Alfred, you need to sign up for a face-to-face appointment and come to the Writing Center.

What should I do if I have a longer paper or thesis?

Sign up for two consecutive appointments with the same tutor to work for a full hour and consider e-mailing the paper to the tutor in advance.  If they can, they will read it ahead of time. Keep in mind that we can usually work on about 10 pages in an hour, so you may need to schedule more than just one hour depending on how much help you need.
